Setup Guide

Follow these steps to connect Elasticsearch to your CData Connect account:

  1. Open the Connections page of the CData Connect dashboard.

  2. Click + Add Connection in the upper-right corner.

  3. Type Elasticsearch into the search field, then click the data source name.

  4. On the Basic Settings tab of the new connection, enter a connection name or keep the default name.

  5. Enter the REST Server’s host name or IP address.

  6. Enter the port for connecting to the Elasticsearch server.

  7. Select the Authentication method, then proceed to the relevant section and follow those instructions.

Authentication Methods

BASIC

  1. Enter the Elasticsearch username for authentication in the User field.

  2. In the Password field, enter the user password.

  3. Select the Data Model from the drop down.

  4. At the top of the CData Connect Add Elasticsearch Connection page, click Save & Test.

    • If the connection test succeeds, a message indicates that your connection has been created.

    • If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. Then, try again.

  5. In Elasticsearch, add the CData Connect static IP addresses to your connection whitelist.

AWS RootKeys

  1. Enter the AWS Access Key associated with the AWS root account.

  2. Enter the AWS Secret Key associated with the AWS root account.

  3. Enter the AWS Region where the ElasticSearch instance is hosted.

  4. Select the Data Model from the drop down.

  5. At the top of the CData Connect Add Elasticsearch Connection page, click Save & Test.

    • If the connection test succeeds, a message indicates that your connection has been created.

    • If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. Then, try again.

  6. In Elasticsearch, add the CData Connect static IP addresses to your connection whitelist.

AWSIAMRoles

  1. Enter the AWS Access Key associated with the AWS root account.

  2. Enter the AWS Secret Key associated with the AWS root account.

  3. Enter the AWS Role ARN for the authenticating User Id.

  4. Enter the AWS Region where the ElasticSearch instance is hosted.

  5. (Optional) If emulating a different role, enter it into the AWS External Id field.

  6. Select the Data Model from the drop down.

  7. At the top of the CData Connect Add Elasticsearch Connection page, click Save & Test.

    • If the connection test succeeds, a message indicates that your connection has been created.

    • If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. Then, try again.

  8. In Elasticsearch, add the CData Connect static IP addresses to your connection whitelist.

API Key

  1. Enter the API Key received from ElasticSearch.

  2. Enter the API Key Id returned alongside the above API Key.

  3. Select the Data Model from the drop down.

  4. At the top of the CData Connect Add Elasticsearch Connection page, click Save & Test.

    • If the connection test succeeds, a message indicates that your connection has been created.

    • If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. Then, try again.

  5. In Elasticsearch, add the CData Connect static IP addresses to your connection whitelist.
