Setup Guide

Follow these steps to connect Confluence to your CData Connect Cloud account:

  1. Open the Connections page of the CData Connect Cloud dashboard.

  2. Click + Add Connection in the upper-right corner.

  3. Type Confluence into the search field, then click the data source name.

  4. On the Basic Settings tab of the new connection, enter a connection name or keep the default name.

  5. Select the Authentication method, then proceed to the relevant section and follow those instructions.

Authentication Methods

OAuth

  1. Enter the following information:

    • URL—Set to the URL to your Jira endpoint in the form https://[YourSiteName].atlassian.net/.

    • OAuth Client Id—Set to the client Id in your app settings.

    • OAuth Client Secret—Set to the client secret in your app settings.

  2. Click Sign in to connect securely through OAuth. This action opens the Confluence sign-in page in a new tab.

  3. Log in to your Confluence account and provide the requested permissions (if applicable).

  4. At the top of the CData Connect Cloud Add Confluence Connection page, click Save & Test.

    • If the connection test succeeds, a message indicates that your connection has been created. The Status on the Edit Connection page also changes to Authenticated.

    • If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. CData Connect Cloud displays error messages under the required fields with missing data. Some data sources require that you sign in directly to the source website. If you did not, an error message appears under the Sign in button. Correct the errors and try again.

    • Unsuccessful connections are saved as drafts and have a Status of Not Authenticated. You can return to the connection and authenticate it later.

Basic

Note: Basic authentication is only applicable for Server instances. For Cloud instances, use APIToken authentication.

  1. Enter the following information:

    • URL—Set to the URL to your Jira endpoint in the form https://[YourSiteName].atlassian.net/.

    • User—the Confluence username for authentication.

    • Password—the user password.

  2. At the top of the CData Connect Cloud Add Confluence Connection page, click Save & Test.

    • If the connection test succeeds, a message indicates that your connection has been created. The Status on the Edit Connection page also changes to Authenticated.

    • If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. CData Connect Cloud displays error messages under the required fields with missing data. Some data sources require that you sign in directly to the source website. If you did not, an error message appears under the Sign in button. Correct the errors and try again.

    • Unsuccessful connections are saved as drafts and have a Status of Not Authenticated. You can return to the connection and authenticate it later.

APIToken

Note: APIToken is only applicable for Cloud instances. For Server instances, use Basic authentication.

  1. Enter the following information:

    • URL—Set to the URL to your Jira endpoint in the form https://[YourSiteName].atlassian.net/.

    • User—the Confluence username for authentication.

    • API Token—the API token for the current user. To create an API token, go to the Security tab of your Atlassian account and click Create and manage API tokens. On the API Tokens page, click Create API token.

  2. At the top of the CData Connect Cloud Add Confluence Connection page, click Save & Test.

    • If the connection test succeeds, a message indicates that your connection has been created. The Status on the Edit Connection page also changes to Authenticated.

    • If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. CData Connect Cloud displays error messages under the required fields with missing data. Some data sources require that you sign in directly to the source website. If you did not, an error message appears under the Sign in button. Correct the errors and try again.

    • Unsuccessful connections are saved as drafts and have a Status of Not Authenticated. You can return to the connection and authenticate it later.

Crowd

  1. Enter the following information:

    • URL—Set to the URL to your Jira endpoint in the form https://[YourSiteName].atlassian.net/.

    • User—The Crowd user account.

    • Password—The password associated with the Crowd account.

    • SSO Login URL—The login URL associated with the Crowd account. You can find the IDP URL by navigating to your application > SSO > SSO information > Identity provider single sign-on URL.

    • SSO Exchange URL—The URL used used to exchange the SAML token for Confluence cookies. This URL can have the following formats:
      • https:///plugins/servlet/samlconsumer
      • https:///plugins/servlet/samlsso
    • SSO App Name—The name of the application in which SSO is enabled.

    • SSO App Password—The password of the application in which SSO is enabled.
  2. At the top of the CData Connect Cloud Add Confluence Connection page, click Save & Test.

    • If the connection test succeeds, a message indicates that your connection has been created. The Status on the Edit Connection page also changes to Authenticated.

    • If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. CData Connect Cloud displays error messages under the required fields with missing data. Some data sources require that you sign in directly to the source website. If you did not, an error message appears under the Sign in button. Correct the errors and try again.

    • Unsuccessful connections are saved as drafts and have a Status of Not Authenticated. You can return to the connection and authenticate it later.

Okta

  1. Enter the following information:

    • URL—Set to the URL to your Jira endpoint in the form https://[YourSiteName].atlassian.net/.

    • User—The Okta user account.

    • Password—The password associated with the Okta account.

    • SSO Login URL—Set to the URL used by the SSO provider.

    • SSO Properties—(Optional) This is needed if you use MFA, applications that override the Okta requests, or a proxy. Otherwise it can be left blank.

    • SSO Exchange URL—The URL used used to exchange the SAML token for Confluence cookies. This URL can have the following formats:

      • https:///plugins/servlet/samlconsumer
      • https:///plugins/servlet/samlsso
  2. At the top of the CData Connect Cloud Add Confluence Connection page, click Save & Test.

    • If the connection test succeeds, a message indicates that your connection has been created. The Status on the Edit Connection page also changes to Authenticated.

PAT

  1. In your Atlassian account, go to Profile > Personal Access Tokens > Create token. Copy and paste the PAT here.

  2. At the top of the CData Connect Cloud Add Confluence Connection page, click Save & Test.

    • If the connection test succeeds, a message indicates that your connection has been created. The Status on the Edit Connection page also changes to Authenticated.

    • If the connection test fails, ensure that you entered your login information correctly with no stray spaces or other characters. CData Connect Cloud displays error messages under the required fields with missing data. Some data sources require that you sign in directly to the source website. If you did not, an error message appears under the Sign in button. Correct the errors and try again.

    • Unsuccessful connections are saved as drafts and have a Status of Not Authenticated. You can return to the connection and authenticate it later.
